Holy Fizz – The Love Child of a Church and Ramos Gin Fizz

The Holy Fizz is one of those creative cocktail ideas that are often devised when you’re a few cocktails deep. This recipe re-imagines the Church cocktail as a fizz, resulting in the perfect sipper that’ll have you seeing the bottom of the glass too quickly.

The creamy citrus vibes from the Aperol and heavy cream are reminiscent of a sophisticated orange creamsicle. The Holy Fizz cocktail takes some time and effort to make, but it’s perfect as a treat.

For this recipe, the Church cocktail is re-imagined as a fizz.
Course: Cocktail
Keyword: Aperol, Cocchi Americano, egg, gin, lemon
Servings: 1
Author: Dakota “Bowie”

Ingredients

  • 1 oz. gin (A citrusy gin like Tanqueray Seville Orange works really well.)
  • 1 oz. Aperol
  • 1 oz. lemon juice
  • ¾ oz. gomme syrup
  • ½ oz. Cocchi Americano
  • 1 oz. heavy cream
  • 3 drops orange flower water
  • 1 egg white
  • ~2 oz. club soda (chilled)
  • 1 orange twist garnish

Instructions

  • Fill Collins glass with ice water to chill.
  • Combine all ingredients, EXCEPT for the egg white and club soda, in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake until chilled.
  • Double strain from the larger shaker tin into the smaller tin and discard the ice. Add the egg white and shake vigorously. This second shake is a dry shake, meaning that it's performed with no ice added.
  • Dispose of the ice water from the Collins glass. Pour cocktail into chilled Collins glass and slowly add club soda. Try to pour in the center to prevent breaking the foamy head. Pouring in 2-3 stages will also help with head formation.
  • Express and garnish with an orange twist.
