A Most Unusual Leap Day Tipple

Leap Day only comes once every 4 years, so it’s only fitting to celebrate with a cocktail recipe that uses “a most unusual gin”, Hendrick’s. Hendrick’s Gin will always be particularly special to me because the first mixed drink I ever ordered on a regular basis was made with Hendrick’s. It was simply Hendrick’s, ginger liqueur, lime juice, and ginger ale. Hendrick’s has several unique aspects, but the primary one is that it’s infused with rose and cucumber. The specific rose used is the Bulgarian “rosa damascena”, which is also used to make rose water. Its subtle floral qualities are perfect for a variety of cocktails, but for Leap Day the focus is the special recipe that Hendrick’s sent me for The Code Quantum. It’s well-balanced and I’d recommend that you try it whether it’s Leap Day or not.

Cheers.
