For the cocktail enthusiast, Halloween can be a tricky holiday. There is no shortage of cocktails and punches with over the top garnishes and sugary, colorful concoctions that people are hell-bent on shooting. Luckily, there are several options that don’t require the enthusiast to sell their soul. Here are three that I’ve specifically selected for Halloween.
Corpse Reviver #2 (pictured above)
Corpse Reviver #2
Ingredients
- 1 ounce gin
- 1 ounce Cointreau
- 1 ounce Dolin Blanc Vermouth or Lillet Blanc
- 1 ounce lemon juice
- 1 dash absinthe
Instructions
- Add absinthe to coupe glass and swirl around to coat. Discard the excess. (Alternatively, you could use a small atomizer to mist the glass.)
- Combine remaining ingredients in cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake until chilled.
- Strain into chilled coupe glass.
Sage’s Serum
Sage’s Serum
Ingredients
- 1½ ounce Applejack
- ½ ounce rich blackberry simple syrup recipe
- ½ ounce sage-infused Dolin Blanc Death & Co. recipe
- ½ ounce lemon juice
- 2 dashes Peychaud’s bitters
- fresh blackberries and sage leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Shake until chilled.
- Strain into coupe or small cocktail glass.
- Garnish with blackberry and sage.
Satan’s Whiskers
Satan’s Whiskers (Straight or Curled)
Ingredients
- ½ ounce London dry gin
- ½ ounce sweet vermouth
- ½ ounce dry vermouth
- ½ ounce orange juice
- ¼ ounce Grand Marnier ("Whiskers Straight") For the "Whiskers Curled" version use orange curaçao.
- 1 dash orange bitters
- orange peel for garnish
Instructions
- Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Shake until chilled.
- Strain into coupe or small cocktail glass.
- Garnish with an orange peel.
