For the cocktail enthusiast, Halloween can be a tricky holiday. There is no shortage of cocktails and punches with over the top garnishes and sugary, colorful concoctions that people are hell-bent on shooting. Luckily, there are several options that don’t require the enthusiast to sell their soul. Here are three that I’ve specifically selected for Halloween.

Corpse Reviver #2 (pictured above)

Corpse Reviver #2

Course: Cocktail
Servings: 1

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce gin
  • 1 ounce Cointreau
  • 1 ounce Dolin Blanc Vermouth or Lillet Blanc
  • 1 ounce lemon juice
  • 1 dash absinthe

Instructions

  • Add absinthe to coupe glass and swirl around to coat. Discard the excess. (Alternatively, you could use a small atomizer to mist the glass.)
  • Combine remaining ingredients in cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake until chilled.
  • Strain into chilled coupe glass.

  • Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  • Shake until chilled.
  • Strain into coupe or small cocktail glass.

Ingredients

  • ½ ounce London dry gin
  • ½ ounce sweet vermouth
  • ½ ounce dry vermouth
  • ½ ounce orange juice
  • ¼ ounce Grand Marnier ("Whiskers Straight") For the "Whiskers Curled" version use orange curaçao.
  • 1 dash orange bitters
  • orange peel for garnish

Instructions

  • Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
  • Shake until chilled.
  • Strain into coupe or small cocktail glass.
  • Garnish with an orange peel.
